Education for the 21st Century (E21C) and Bromley Football Club Academy (BFCA) are delighted to be continuing their unique and innovative collaboration. This scheme sees The Ravensbourne School staff being responsible for providing, high quality education to members of the BFCA. This is done by working closely with BFCA staff to ensure high quality support for BTEC Sport courses, and incorporating a full ‘A’ level provision for BFCA members who wish to follow this pathway.
This collaboration based on inclusion, greater opportunity and choice at Post 16, opened its doors to 150 students in September 2017. The students, made up of ‘A’ level students and BTEC students follow their academic studies under the guidance of TRS, with outstanding football education run by Bromley F.C. This encompasses the highest quality coaching and entry into one of 8 Bromley F.C. teams. Many students also access the 1st Team squad during their time with us.
The scheme has been massively oversubscribed in its first year and is set to expand further next year with the introduction of a girl’s academy.

Paul Murphy, headteacher of The Ravensbourne School commented; “This is a fantastic approach to engaging young people in Post 16 education; the students on the programme really do have the best of both worlds; a quality education and access to elite sport and elite coaching.”
Mark Hammond, Director of BFCA commented; “Bromley Football Club are excited to continuing this innovative partnership with one of the most recognised and leading schools in the Borough of Bromley and secondary school sector. This ground-breaking association has seen Bromley Football Club unite with Education for the 21st Century (E21C) and from September 2017, for the first time in the history of the Bromley Football Club Academy, successful Bromley Academy players are studying A-Level and BTEC qualifications from a range of different subjects. Together we are looking to produce a nationally recognised community-centred football club that addresses all levels of education within football. The Academy and The Ravensbourne School have designed a unique curriculum that is responsive and flexible, based around pathways and routes allowing players to access a future within the sporting industry. This pioneering framework will suit the player’s learning needs and aspirations both on and off the playing field. This joint vision will strive to maximise the development of every student enabling them to flourish.”
Bromley Football Club will be launching a groundbreaking post 16-19 girls Academy from 2018-19 in partnership with The Ravensbourne School (Education 21st century Trust). The decision has been made by the Academy Director Mark Hammond due to the success of the reformed Development and Professional phase Academy which is now delivering both A-Level, BTEC and F.A. qualifications.

Four second half goals from the visitors saw Bromley bow out of the FA Youth Cup on Thursday night, despite leading at the break.
In a first half where Stevenage failed to take any of several chances they had, it was Bromley who took the lead. Great work from Spencer Cripps saw him work his way into the penalty area, and amongst several challenges, the ball fell to Aiden Enver, who, from outside the penalty area, flicked the ball up and lashed home a volley into the bottom corner, with the goalkeeper unmoved.
Kristupas Burba made several good saves to prevent the visitors from scoring, with Joe Leslie and Andronicos Georgiou being denied on more than one occasion.
Stevenage started the second half on the front foot and would equalise a quarter of an hour into the final 45. Ben Wilmot rifled home an effort at the back post after a corner was not cleared.
13 minutes later, Stevenage would take the lead. Georgiou ran down the left and strode into the penalty area with the ball at his feet and did well to keep posession, before lashing the ball into the roof of the net from an angle.
Unfortunately for Bromley, the visitors would soon extend their lead. Drilon Krasniqi took advantage of the ball not being cleared by Bromley and saw the ball bounce kindly, before lobbing the advancing Burba.
Five minutes after that came the goal of the night. Georgiou picked up posession in his own half, before embarking on an impressive solo run through several challenges and into the penalty area, where he blasted an effort past Burba and in off the underside of the crossbar.

Bromley Football Club is excited to announce the expansion of its Youth Academy for 2018-19
The Bromley FC Youth Academy was launched in 2017, with teams at U14s, U15s and U16s competing successfully for the 2017-18 season in the Junior Premier League (JPL).
For 2018-19 we will be adding teams at the U12s and U13s age groups.
Academy and First Team Goalkeeping Coach Glyn Shimell who heads up the Bromley FC Youth Academy says; “Presently we have the U16’s and U15’s sitting top of their respective tables and competing well against other National League clubs including Woking, Aldershot and Dartford. We have played numerous in house development games against Football League Clubs but more importantly we have seen the players develop both on and off the pitch. It’s really pleasing for the coaching staff to see that 100% of the U16 squad have been offered places in the post 16 academy programme”
Bromley Football Club wants our players to love the game and believes the JPL gives young players the grounding and the potential to start on a pathway that could lead into our Post 16 Academy. Players will remain involved in football past the age of 16, progressing onto the Bromley Football Club Academy Education and Scholarship program and then exit via a host of unique pathways such as becoming a First Team player, semi-pro player, coach or entry into a University or US scholarship plus potential Bromley FC work placement.
Bromley Football Club offers Football for All, Development and Academy programmes across the Youth Development Phase which is in line with the FA’s Technical Guide to young player development.
The Junior Premier League explained
As a club we recognised that there was a strategic gap between the Football League academies and the grassroots game; young players moving between the two results in many young players being overlooked within their football “development”.
The National League are trying to “bridge the gap” and establish standards for clubs, coaching staff and players who if released from the EPPP programme, can now find themselves in a completely different grassroots environment – the “development” environment!
The National League, in football ladder terms, is the bridge between non-league and league football in England & Wales. The current CEO of the National League was responsible for the delivery of the EPPP system in the professional game and is determined to create a platform to further develop such standards which has also been the focus of the Chairman of the Junior Premier League and this league’s continued work with the FA has seen a move towards the higher standards that would be required.
The top clubs from different regions are now facing each other and giving players the added challenge, development and exposure to game time they all need and deserve.
The League has a great cross section of clubs involved from Premier League to semi-professional clubs. The important thing for any club entering the league is a genuine desire to develop their players to the best of their ability.

We will be holding trials for all age groups on Saturday 16th June 2018. To register your interest, please complete the form below. More information regarding the trial will be sent out nearer the time.

Bromley Football Club confirm they will field an Under 23s professional development squad from the 2018-19 season.
The Ravens have confirmed their intentions to put together a squad featuring young professionals at the Club, a concept that is to be driven by 1st Team Manager, Neil Smith and Academy Director, Mark Hammond. The initiative will also be hugely supported by the Board Directors. Whilst there is no formal competition structure in place as yet, there is said to be at least eight teams interested in joining a new national competition.
Club Chairman Jerry Dolke said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to get the right playing foundations in place for our up and coming young professional players. The National League is very competitive and becoming stronger year-by-year, so it’s in our best interests that we can develop home grown talent and bring them through.
Danny Mills, who will take on the role as Head of Player Development from 2018-19 stated:
“A Bromley Football Club reserve team in a competitive league would offer that platform for our Academy players to play at a more senior level and gives the likes of Spencer Cripps, Harry Smith, Scott Jarvis, Rodney Erouter, Aiden Enver, Riphi Kalala and many more the chance to play regularly, at a strong standard, which will help mature and develop their talents. Part of this strategy will be to deploy the professional development squad players on loan to lower non league teams. This will help them gain mens football experience so that, when the time comes, they are ready for the step-up.
“Our young players in the Academy and reserve team will be available to play for their respective squads during the week and then represent their potential loan clubs, with a clear allegiance to Bromley Football Club, ensuring they don’t lose their identity as Bromley Football Club players as they progress through the season.
“The Professional Development Squad will play fixtures against premiership and football league teams helping the players gain recognition and if there’s interest then we can potentially sell them before they get to the 1st team squad. With matches of this nature being played on a regular basis, it should improve the competitive environment in which young players can progress.”
Neil Smith further added:
“The Professional Development Squad will look to harness many of the old school reserve team values along with offering a senior outlook on the game. The reserve team squads will be made up of 1st team players who need game time, professional development players who are working towards getting into the 1st team and Academy players who can mature whilst playing with senior players.
“We successfully employed this strategy with Jordan Higgs, who is now an established 1st team regular and is being coveted by many football league teams.”
Academy Director Mark Hammond highlighted:
“The gap between Academy level and 1st team is a big jump. As a Club we don’t want to be failing these young players by raising their expectations and aspirations and then not being able to offer the extra year or two that many young talented players need to develop. It is essential that we can provide them with a chance to develop to 1st team level. This will also offer an extension to the Academy player qualification pathway – Year 14 students can gain a wider range of vocational qualifications whilst studying at The Ravensbourne School and Bromley Football Club.”
The Bromley Football Club Professional Development Squad trials will be held on Saturday 23rd June.
If you are a Year 14 student from September 2018 (this means if you have just completed Year 13 at another football programme or secondary sixth form) please apply using the form below.
